Oklahoma Right to Work Ad Wins Pollies
February 1, 2002
McCarthy Marcus Hennings won the 2002 Pollie Award for “Best TV Ad in a Statewide Initiative” for a spot called “Freedom of Speech.”
The ad lays out the arguments for passing Right to Work in Oklahoma by using real people to help articulate a complicated message.
MMH produced the television and radio advertising for Right to Work for Oklahomans during last year’s hotly contested ballot initiative.
Using a mix of real Oklahomans and elected officials, MMH crafted a media campaign that helped explain a complicated issue, and persuaded voters to pass the initiative in the face of a media onslaught – opponents having placed the largest media buy in Oklahoma history.
Outspent 3:1 by Big Labor money, the Right to Work campaign triumphed soundly, passing Right to Work 54% – 46%.
