Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act

In early 2008, America’s bipartisan law that let intelligence agencies intercept terrorists’ communications … expired.  National security was at risk.

Senator Jay Rockefeller predicted our intelligence “quality” would be “degraded” … just one reason why a bipartisan Senate voted overwhelmingly to extend the surveillance.

But the House refused to vote, and instead went on vacation.

Michael McConnell, Director of National Intelligence, said, “We have lost intelligence information … as a direct result of the uncertainty created by Congress' failure to act.”

MMH produced a national and district-targeted campaign to put pressure on the House to bring the Senate’s bill to the House floor.
