Dave Whalen is a writer/producer at MMH.
In 2005 and 2006 Whalen helped produce national TV ads supporting the confirmations of Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito, and oversaw post-production for Iowa Congressman Tom Latham’s re-election campaign.
Whalen helped create numerous print and radio ads pushing deployment of Verizon’s FiOS high-speed Internet and TV service, and produced work for Doctors for Medical Liability Reform (DMLR) urging Congress to act on the medical liability crisis.
In 2004, working with senior MMH partner Larry McCarthy, Whalen managed media production for the re-election campaigns of Iowa Congressmen Jim Nussle and Tom Latham.
In that presidential election year, Iowa was one of the most closely-watched battlegrounds in the country. While John Kerry won nine of the twelve counties in Nussle’s 1st Congressional District, Nussle won all twelve en route to re-election.
In the 4th District, President Bush narrowly edged Kerry, but Latham ran ten points better and cruised to re-election with 61% of the vote.
Whalen assisted all aspects of production for the successful re-election campaigns of Senator Susan Collins, Congressman Nussle and Congresswoman Anne Northup in 2002.
Whalen directs the research department at MMH; documenting advertising claims, combing through issue positions and public statements and tracking legislation.
Whalen is a 2001 graduate of Wake Forest University.
